Accommodation is available upon request for candidates taking part in the selection process.This newly created position of Senior Underwriter/Underwriter, Environmental, requires individuals to develop, underwrite and manage a book of complex environmental casualty business. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships that can add value to the AXIS book of business. The best candidates will be able to effectively manage day to day workload assignments while contributing to longer term strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage new environmental casualty business.Review, analyze, accept, and decline risks to ensure profitability.Market and underwrite a diverse portfolio of combined environmental casualty business including (general liability, contractors pollution liability, and professional liability).
• Support an existing team writing fixed site pollution legal liability and unsupported environmental excess business.Develop and manage broker and intermediary relationships along with sales and marketing.Develop internal relationships with other profit centers and distribution staff.Work to become proficient in other related insurance products offered by AXIS.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• 7 - 10 years of Casualty or Environmental experience is desired along with a deep knowledge of brokers and coverages.Strong knowledge of underwriting primary casualty and excess casualty is very important
• Proven marketing abilities and established relationships with brokers.
  Perform regular broker visits on timely and frequent basis via remote capabilities and in person.
• Bachelor's degree (or higher).Prior career or education experience in construction, engineering or science related discipline is a plus.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills for risk and insurance metrics.
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to work across multiple areas of the company and industries.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and remotely as needed.
• Candidate should be positive, energetic and possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; be well organized, a team player and have strong negotiating skills.
  Some travel as required for marketing and meetings.
